Guided Sagrantino Flight with Marco Caprai at Compline Wine Shop
October 2, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Event Navigation

Are you familiar with the Sagrantino grape?
Indigenous to Italy’s landlocked Umbria region, it’s only grown in and around the commune of Montefalco, where it is accorded DOCG status for both dry and sweet passito wines. Sagrantino is one of Italy’s most tannic varieties, and the wines it produces are among the country’s most long-lived.
The Arnaldo Caprai winery, which celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2021, is among the appellation’s most important producers.
Marco Caprai, who has helmed the Umbrian estate since 1987, is currently the Director of Montefalco’s Consortium and a key author of the DOCG legislation. He’ll be joining us at Compline Wine Shop on Monday, Oct. 2, to give a serious look at Sagrantino!
Marco will be pouring four wines:
Montefalco Sagrantino “25 Anni” 2013
Montefalco Sagrantino “25 Anni” 2014
Montefalco Sagrantino “25 Anni” 2016
Montefalco Sagrantino “25 Anni” 2014
Montefalco Sagrantino “25 Anni” 2016
Montefalco Sagrantino Passito 2016
Get a sense of how Sagrantino ages during this masterclass on Montefalco,
and learn from one of the leading lights of the appellation.
This is a seated, guided flight with Marco. Seats are limited to 24.
